I just purchased some 292/292 cams for my 420a, yes a little steep I know but the car is being turbo'd as we speak, I currently have BC valve springs with ti retainers, supertech seals, guides, new keepers, and valves....Should I upgrade to the dual valve springs or should the reg. BC springs be enough to handle it? Just dont want to rebuild a head 6 months down the road LOL..

There are no BC springs that I've seen that will deal with those duration and lift figures at the engine speeds they are intended for.

What are your plans for the car that you went with that much cam?

Hope you've got some L19 or Custom Age rod-bolts and grooved bearings to keep the bottom end together.

I'm running the same valve duration and lift numbers with a 71mm turbo, for reference.. and its near the small end of the spectrum for a cam like that.

Im honestly just trying to see how big I can make this 420a go, I know everyone says it pointless to build one but i have already built my tsi up and now im wanting to finally get a 420a that will get out of the "turd" status LOL....250-300fwhp is what im aiming for

Uh.. wow.

You are aiming for only 250-300 at the flywheel.. and are picking a cam with nearly a half inch of lift and almost as much duration as some NA drag cams.

I think you should do some more thorough research before spending money next time.

That is going to keep it in turd status, as it will feel like it has asthma on a small turbo. This sort of cam is intended to breathe above 7000rpm...

LOL damn, makes sense why i got them so cheap, the guy before me probably figured out what exactly you just told me and reaslized its way too much for what we have...haha thanks for the info man, looks like ill stick with my 272's :)
