I'm replacing the short block on my engine, I wanted to put the stage 1 block on instead of just a stock shortblock, will the timing and everything be the same with the oversized pistons and diff compression ratio? I'm just making sure, I don't think it will matter

On the websites that sell 4g63 small blocks, there were three different stages on most of them besides the stock small block, stage 1 included forged rods, heavy duty main bearings and .20 oversized pistons, and that setup could handle up too 500 WHP.

Which website and yes timing is the same:)

Doing the repair my self would involve more machine shop work then just boring out the head , I found a completely remanufactured short block for 1200$ including new oil pump and seals and gaskets so I'm thinking I'll just go with that. Although I would like the stage1 upgrade.

A stock 4G63 can handle 500 hp... and I beleave you mean short block, not small...

That'd be what I would recommend for now since it seems like your only making half of a stock motors potential anyway. I'd start trying to fill it's potential by following the upgrade path as aposed to just increasing it. That's what I did and it turned out to be a complete loss. :coy: I saw in your other thread you're having your tranny rebuilt?

im only looking for about 300 hp, the exhaust system and 16 psi boost and filter plus all the other cheap upgrades should do the trick. but yeah, my trannys gonna be brand spankin new. along with new select and shift levers and new shift cables and bushings. new brakes on the car and new cv axels. THIS THINGS GONNA BE SWEEEET!:D

well, im buying the new short block from a company that re manufactures them. i dont know if they offer to eliminate the balance shaft or not. but if its adjusted properly then im not really worried about it. its not that big of a deal is it?

Man just trust me. I've been through enough engines. I overheated the first one when I was still a noob. Had it rebuit then spun a rod bearing. Rebuilt it again with forged internals and had new balancer belt, tensioner, timing belt and pulleys. 30k miles later the balancer belt randomly broke. Once a balancer belt goes it usually takes the timing belt with it causing your pistons to bend many of your valves. I'm just trying to help prevent you from having my kind of luck.

You can pick up a BSE kit really cheap and do it yourself. I paid $25 for one so it's not like you can't afford it. Unless you don't want to do it yourself and this company overcharges 100s for it. It frees up a few hp, increases oil pressure, you don't have to worry about the belt, and you get a little bit more vibration which I actually like.
