well after my AWD swap all was well and the day after completing it once i was sure it was road worthy i was driving near my house, did a full o first gear pull and when i let off the SRS light came on. Since i have a stand alone and the OEM ECU is gone, my friend at the mitsu dealer can't scan the system since his scanner uses the OBD-II port.. my quetion is i've searched the manual online and i can't find any other "sensors" besides the main control box and the air bags and clock spring.. is there a sensor under the hood some where that might be off/disconnected or somethng/?

Any help o where to look would be great I'd rather have the bags there if needed but if they aren't going to function or worse yet like happened to a friend of mine TWICE, they go off at a red light for no reason, then i'd rather remove/unhook them andmake a nice hidden compartment for electronics out of the passenger side bag/hole

please any insight wouldbe great

also it never goes off when the car is on now, just constantly lit

There are impact sensors in each front corner. The rocking of the car as you did stupid things on the street (...sorry, I had to say that...) may have shaken one loose. Start there. If they seem fine, take the panel between the front seats off and check the control unit's connectors. If both of these turn up nothing, yank the bulb. :)

Can you give me any idea where the sensors might be located near? As for stupic thngs on the street, yea sometimes i do them but this wasn't even but a 3/4 rev range 1st gear pull just to feel rtaction.. it wouldmake sense if i was beating the car, bouncing around and almost out of control but i assure you, the driving was fairly calm, just the power making the body twist up under traction is all i coudl think caused it

Nope. Sorry. No idea where they are exactly; I just know there's one in each front corner somewhere. The FSM is on the web, tho'. That might be worth checking, too, because lots of Mitsu sensors have no near-by connector, so the manual might tell you to start your search at the control unit, instead. Plus, you can do the resistance check on the sensors from the connector end quite easily.

Yea, i have the FSM from the 'net that's linked on here every so often and even it doesnt' show their location, jsut calls them g-sensors and doesn't tell how to test them either, oly describes the clck spring, each bag and the maincontrol module

I just did some searching around and some places say that starting in 96 the impact sensors were included in the control module, itself. I have no idea if that's true, but it very much argues that Step One should be checking if there's something obviously wrong with the SRS ECU ... loose connector, not bolted down, etc. Have you taken the center panel off yet to look?

yea, had the center consol out to do some work when i did the AWD swap, everything is fine as i cdouble checked it right after the light came on, my car is a 97 so maybe there's a sensor up front some where but i can't telll. I'd like to have them in case they are needed and if they are on the frits i'd rather remove them than to have them go off randomely like i've seen twice on toyota camry's a rfriend bought as "builder cars"
