oooooooooooh, that hatch will go sexy with my hood... damn man... im jelous!!! anyways, post pics when the hatch is put on, im going to get ready to nutt in my n/m...:thumb:

anyways, so you will have no more back defroster, and also, you will have to use the stock latch and most of the rubber things to keep air and moisture out right?

no antenna either?

let us know! thanks man, great stuff!

K igs, I have a mountain of questions.

1st and foremost, I noticed no latch on yours, do you know if that is an option? or if the factory trunk latch bolts up? or does it require hoodpins/ spring latches?

2nd about the rear window, I'm building a car that will see the street alot of it's life, how scratch resistant do you think this stuff is? I hear what the company that makes the stuff claims but feedback from someone who actually owns it means alot more to me.? and do you know if it's possible to tint it?

also youve bought alot from squidskins now, and I seem to notice a pattern of things arriving damaged (your fenders and your trunk now.) how well are they packaging this stuff?

thanks for your time?

Interesting, thanks for the link. I will definitely check them out as shipping from Canada is a PITA.

The stock latch bolts right up.

I've been using it for quite a few months now. No problems at all. However, it is very easily scratched. If you accidentally scrape it with a sharp or semisharp object you will have a scratch. Lexan is just plastic, that's all it is.

The problem is with the shippers. I did end up getting money for the damaged hatch. Shipping is simply a pain. All I can say is good luck.

I say clear coat the whole thing! A Full carbon fiber car, now that would be badass. A show winning, functional, 12 second DSM= sweet:thumb:
If you paid that much to have all that carbon fiber, flaunt that shit like a 2cent hooker! seriously, if i paid that much for carbon fiber, i want the whole damn world to know i have it. call me a ricer or whatever, but that would be terribly badass!:thumb:

^^ agreed.

igs, is there any coating on the carbon what so ever? Is having them clear gel-coated an option?

All wet layup carbon fiber parts have a gel coat. The hatch was also clear coated before it was shipped out.

I used to have a pic of it installed. I'll have to take another one.

The finish doesn't look too good. If I were to buy a carbon hatch and pay that much I would want it to look like a Vis hood. I would want a show quality finish. Is this the case with your hatch because the pics make the finish look foggy.

His parts are FAR from show quality finish. These parts are not for show cars. Good thing my car is not a show car.

Mine isn't a showcar either but if i'm paying that much for carbon fiber, it better look damn good.

Carbon fiber isn't for looks. I was wondering why anyone would put carbon fiber on a show car.

Looks fast.

Body panels are meant to be painted anyway.

Vis needs to make a show quality hatch for our cars. Period.

I asked them about it a couple of months ago, and they told me to wait a couple of weeks. Well it has been 2 months now nothing. And now they do not reply to my emails? Weird:laugh:

Hope your cf clipse come together nicely. Can't wait to see the final product. :thumb:
Total weight savings might be around 120-150lbs from the sounds of it.

I saved so much weight my rear wheels lock up when braking. LOL. It's been corrected now with some nice AP brakes.

Wow, nuts. That's what I call a noticable difference. Bet it handles nicer and is more responsive as well. Kudos

Bump , pics, pics and more pics. C'mon give up the picks
igs.
