So not too long ago i was reversing and i noticed this squeaking/dragging sound as i backed up. I then found out i can hear the sound going forward slow. It sounds like something is dragging and it is in rhythm of wheel rotation, as in the slower i go the slower it will squeak/ and faster i go the faster it will sound. i checked the brake pads and they seem fine, I'm just not sure where to be looking

Can you tell on which side is it coming from? Try to be more specific as where it's coming from. You can always open one window and check if the sounds is louder on 1 side than the other. Have you done any maintenance recently, etc

i notice it a little more on the passenger side, but i can't be 100% on that. well i have done my front halfshafts, front right wheel bearing, and changed the rear diff fluid. but this sound was before all of that

the front 2 are fine. the rears are not leaking grease so i would assume there okay but you never know

It could be a Heat shield under your car which is bent and it touch your drive shaft. You can also check for bent Brake Dust shield.

You should have someone beside your car while moving slowly and you will find atleast where it's coming from.

My heat shield is already off, and it can't be the dust shield because it's not a constant sound. I will get a friend to listen while I'm in a parking lot or something haha

Does it make the sound when you turn the steering wheel side to side. Mine was making a horrible sound and it turned out to be a rip in the balljoint boot that allowed water and grime to get in. It made a metal to metal sound when driving and turning.

Oh I forgot I replaced the front two lower control arms because my ball joints went out so it not that. When I got my car alined I was told the front right bearing was bad so I replaced that. I'm guessing THR checked all of them

I'm a little baffled on this since you eliminated the others options. Check the tensioner pulley? or maybe the whole assembly?

Well since its in proportion to wheel movement I don't think it's part of the engine. Maybe the driveshaft carrier bearing?

i guess it sounds more of a scrape, yes i have checked the brake pads

It's not a constant sound though, it's pulses. Which makes me think it's a rotating part

Pull the caliper and see if you got a tiny rock or something stuck in there. Its also possible you got a defective wheel bearing. I'd jack up the car and spin that tire so you can listen see where the problem is coming from.

Actually I noticed when I brake my brakes will squel, so maybe something's wrong with the pad/pads? Or maybe a rock like Outlaw said

I did check the rear calipers and they seemed fine, maybe I should check again

Update: i put my car on jackstands so all wheels were in the air. I spun the front wheels and there was no sound, which i figured. I then spun the rear wheels and there was a squeak once every two turns or so. It sounded like it was front the driveshaft so i disconnected it from the rear diff, apparently when i tried moving the u-joint it would only go left to right, and not up and down, which makes me conclude one of the bearings is stuck. Im not sure but I'm guessing i can just rebuild the u-joint right? I'm 99% its the problem so I'm going to go that route
