stumble at low speeds

yeah i have a 92 tsi well my problem is at low speeds or idle the engine will run really rough or stumble like it wants to cutoff nad the check engine lights comes on but when rev the engine up to like 5000 rpms it then goes away. i put a vaccum pump on the egr valve it holds vaccum but it could be sticking not sure what else it could be need help thanks.

you should start by reading your diagnostic codes from the ecu, if CEL is coming on the ecu will have something to tell you, very easy to do, very helpful.
