hey guys trying to find out how muich my 97 gst spyder weighs. i want to order a roll bar but i need to know how much it weighs before i chose what diameter steel tube i need. thanks

My mind is a bit foggy but I think stock weight is anywhere from 3100-3300lbs.

thanks man yea thats what i figured, but not completely sure because if it weighs 3500 or more i need to get the 2.00x1.20 ERW.

According to Wikipedia- Curb weight Hatchback AWD: 3,269 lb (1,483 kg)
Hatchback: 2,877 lb (1,305 kg)
Convertible: 3100 lbs

After my all wheel swap and a full tank of gas my spyder weighed in at 3240 with me in the car..

I'm pretty sure the Spyder tips the scales over AWD. They are quite heavy, so much so that they have stiffer springs in the back to compensate for the extra weight. Either way I'd say 3200 is a safe estimate.

my Manuel says 99 eclipse spyder 4,079 lbs 1,850 kg sounds like alot more than all the ^ maybe im reading it wrong.

something in your manual is wrong.. There is no way in hell I removed 800 pounds by removing the ac components and ADDING AWD!! Just saying.. Id say somewhere around 3000-3100 lbs.. ~~

Keep in mind that there is a difference between Gross Weight and Curb Weight.

Here is an explanation right out of Wiki.

(The difference between gross weight and curb weight is the total passenger and cargo weight capacity of the vehicle. For example, a pickup truck with a curb weight of 4,500 pounds (2,041 kg) might have a cargo capacity of 2,000 pounds (907 kg), meaning it can have a gross weight of 6,500 pounds (2,948 kg) when fully loaded.)

As I recall my 97 Spyder only weighs "Curb Weight" around 129 pounds more than my 95 GS.

I'll try to look up those weights again.

Ok update: The Spyder GS 2888 Pounds Manual Tranny / 2943 Auto and the GST 3053 Pounds Manual Tranny / 3142 Auto.

I have no clue where you got that information from but there is no way that your car weighs 4,079 in stock form.

This is from the DSM "1,000 AAQ" 1000 AAQ - DSM factory specifications

Wow according to this chart the Spyder only weighs 46 pounds more than the coupe

does anyone know if there are any companies that make a roll bar for the spyder. i placed an order with autopower, but got an email saying they dont make one for the spyder. womp womp

i remimber when the spyder came out it was a big deal that the had only added 50lb to the weight
