Hey guys recently bought a 98 spyder gs... Fixed some body damage and got it all set to go... It drove great for a day then I filled the tank with gas and in less than 10 miles I'm getting a lot of stuttering, jerking, hesitating, and at idle the car is almost dieing and will get worse if I give it some gas. I first assumed that some bad gas or a clog in fuel filter would be the problem since it happened right after I filled the tank. The reason i came here is that if I get the car above 1.2k RPM its runs much better with almost no stuttering which to me, would not be the case if it was a fuel issue. Other similar issues I've found were related to O2 sensors and MAF sensors but I'm not sure where to start. Any help or advice ephod be great! Thank you!

Also there are no CEL's

Update : if I unplug the MAF the car runs great so im assuming the maf is bad

Update 2: Car will run fine with the MAF plugged in for about 1-2 min when engine is cold. When the engine begins to warm up and the rpms start to come down the problem suddenly kicks in, but before that everything runs perfectly. So from what i can tell from searching it may be the CTS or the O2 sensor and not the MAF itself.

ok so im still having this problem. When the car is cold it runs great with no problems at all but once it starts to get warm after about 5 min it will start to stutter and hesitate. When the car idles the RPM's will get really low and almost stall then come back up and keep doing it over and over. If you give it any gas it either makes it almost die or nothing at all. If i can get it over about 1500 RPM the car revs fine. When i try to drive it when its hesitating like this, ill give it some gas gettinginto first and there will be no response from the engine then the RPM's will shoot to around 3k and as long as i keep the RPM's up the only noticiple difference in driving is that when accelerating you'll feel the car accelerating then it will stop accelerating like you took your foot off the gas and then go back to accelerating ever couple of seconds. Theres no CELs. Ive tried switching out the MAF and Changed the O2. Ive visually looked for vacuum leaks but dont think thats the issue since it runs fine when cold. Im not really sure what to look at or test/replace from here. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I would check for vacuum leaks or replace the maf with a know good one if you have one sitting around or can barrow one off someone.

check for vacuum leaks and didnt find any. I made a video just to help describe what is happening a little better.

i did find a connector at the end of the throttle body/fuel rail on the drivers side that was unplugged and i cant seem to find where it plugs in. which im not sure if it has anything to do with my problem.

Also when i first started to try and figure the problem out i took off the IAC to take a look at and it has a lot of white stuff in it that i cleaned out. Not sure if anyone has seen something like this and could tell me what its from. Im assuming the IAC is working fine because when the engine is cold the idle is fine although a little high, if i should think otherwise please let me know.

Thank you for any and all help!

Have you tried swapping the maf with a known good one?

I bought another MAF from a local but it did not fix the problem. I dont know for sure the condition that that MAF is/was in. I did try cleaning both with MAF cleaner with no change. I have a 95 nt, a friend with a 3g eclipse with 4g64, and a friend with an 01 galant with a 4g64 but all have different MAFs than mine, or at least the plug was different. I would love to try and swap one out since a new MAF is kind of pricey. Might have to try and find someone local on here. Thank you for the advice!
