Spyder And A/C

I bought a 1998 Eclipse Spyder GST just recently and I just now realized the A/C doesn't work. Actually the line in the back of the block isn't even connected. Since I live in Indiana and we get some warm summers should I try fixing the A/C or just put the top down and be done with it. I don't think I would put the top down all the time though. On the other hand removing the A/C lines would clean up the engine bay. What are your thoughts Tuners?

Only reason I would keep the ac is to defrost the front windows when cold. I'm stuck in the same position right now with my car

I have no AC. I live in FL. Drove it all summer at 95+ outside, and rain sometimes. Over all, wear a hat and put the top down when its hot.

You'd be surprised at how the sun is still hot with the top down. This past summer I drove probably have the time with my top up and windows down until night when it cooled off. I don't know if my AC works or not though... ever since I bought the car it hasn't had the AC belt installed but it still has complete AC though.

Fix the a/c for the defroster and in case you need. Never know when those hot days get you. Here in Cali, when its summer you know. A/c goes full blast then. Ha.

Well the A/C line is undone from the back of the block and the belt it already routed around the pulley so I'm not sure what needs done to fix it. My guess is a new belt, compressor, and charge. I have a 4g64 parts car with a working A/C or at least I think. I wonder if they are a direct swap.

dont think so on the direct swap. I recommend keeping the AC if your car still looks good. Trust me on those hot days sitting in traffic; your gonna be happy you kept the top up. That sun can get hot...

I was just wondering if you have your ac all hooked up but without the belt it blows hot air only? Am I correct

Cant you use the defrost without the ac anyway since it runs off your radiator heater core for the heat when the car is warm as far as i know my ac in mine doesnt work but my heat works fine. So i would just delete the A/C windows and your top make a good way to cool off during the summer.

Mine blows coolish air since it is still cold here now and the heater still works fine but when summer hits there wont be cool air no more just outside temp.

Like everything - it depends.

I live in North Carolina if I could just drive the car on weekends and in the evening, I would ditch the AC in a minute. However 100 degree days with the sun beating on you - that AC is a MUST!
