i have a 91 eagle talon tsi FWD and lately i would go out and start my car and let it warm up for about 5 min before i go drive it and when i go to drive it the car will seem like its sputtering in first and third(no second gear) also if i dont hold the gas peddle down after driving a little ways the car will just die. It will continue to do this until it reaches its normal temperature. Also i have my cel on after about 2 min of driving but once i shut the car off it goes out, does anyone know what would cause these things to happen?

Well i got the sputtering to stop, did a blt and my intercooler piping was loose but i still cant figure out why the cel is on. Does anyone know how to check that?

He's asking how to check it.. and as far as I know the cheapest/easiest way to check your code is with a logger, but do your research on what one you use, I have a Palm M105 and I can't check mine with it.

well i have a logger i just cant get the software to reinstall on it because i ended up splitting my cable by accident, i just didnt know if there was another way like GM has it so you can touch two spots on the obd 1 port and it flashes the codes.

yes you can with a analog volt meter its tells how on vfaq and the codes are listed i think in the chiltons manual. good job on the pipes. ive had that happen to me b4.

If you don't have a analog v-meter you can go real cheap and use a paper clip and light bulb. Look in the book for what pins to use. :hellyeah: If you have a bit of a hard start with rough running while cold I would say the coolant temp sensor might be out of range.
