A friend of mine has a 1991 gsx his transmission is messed up we already kno that but his stock manifold was cracked. He bought a GT dsm high flow manifold we just put it on today. we took the car for a spin it was running much better. Then when we got past 2500 RPM's the car started lagging real bad. The car wouldnt even let me go over 20mph.Then i let off the gas and the stock BOV fluttered it didnt sound right we got back to his house and reved it up to see if the BOV was working. The BOV was not blowing any air off and he is venting....Could this be why the car is sputtering and not getting to high RPM's.

Id start with a boost leek check. if you dont know how to do one do a serch. then id try new plugs. then i would test the wires or just borrow someone elses and see if that fixes it. then id test the coil's. good luck

Im pretty sure he dosent have a boost leak because he changed all the gaskets today. he has new plugs for it but he was gona wait to put them in till he changes his oil.:dsm:

a boost leak could be caused by a bad vacume line or a hole in your intercooler piping not just the gaskets or it could be from the BOV itself.

I would also check all of the plugs (I don't meen the spark plug wires) that go to coil and see if they are pluged in or loose.

Let us know

My friend checked all the plugs and wires everything was good and tight. the only way the BOV works is if u rev it up to like 6000rmps then after it blows off it flutters real bad. i put my ear up to the intake and thats where the fluttering was comming from. He dosent know what it could be. He just started venting it he was recirculating. but after checking the plugs and wires it still is sputtering real bad. It wont sputter in reverse only in drive.we still cant figure it out. I was thinking mabey a bad fuel filter or something but i dono.

Do the boost leak test that was already mentioned. Also stop venting the bov!!!!! Either you can have a better running car or noise and a shitty running car.

He told me he is going to recirculate it tomorrow. the pipe was shot could he go to auto zone or advanced and get a new pipe? If this dosent fix problem what else could it be.

Ok guys my buddy put his recirculation hose back on today. the car is ideling alot smoother and it isant sputtering as much once he got to like 3800rpms the car sputters almost like a fuel cut or something. Well i dont think it helps much that the car is on E and he wanted me to ask if anyone had a diagram or tell him where all the vac lines go for the turbo, intake, and the BOV...Thanks
