Springfield, Missouri Clubs/Groups/Meets?

I've been a member here for a little while now, but never posted anything. Hey, it's been so long, I forgot I even had a registered username here!

Anyway, having been a DSM owner for almost 3 years now, and after seeing quite a few DSM's cruising around the area, I thought I would see how many of us are actually on here, and looking to meet up sometime? I've been entertaining thoughts of a club, since the only one I found online hasn't shown activity in about 4 years!

I actually live in between Buffalo and Springfield, but I'm all over the place out there, just cruising and whatnot.

I saw some of the older threads from guys in this area, but I'm curious to know who's all intersted in something like this? How's about a little sound off? Is anyone a member of an existing club that is open to new members, or possibly interested in starting one?

Cut me a little slack if this is the wrong spot for a thread like this, but honestly, after searching the boards, I couldn't really think of a better spot honestly. Regardless, chime in, and let me know you're out there!

Yea, I thumbed around a few of those threads, including the one you mentioned. Depending on what my schedule is, I'd be up for a meet. I used to be part of a club back in Canada, but I've been out of the car scene for a few years. I'm a licensed mechanic, and worked for a big Chrysler dealership back in Canada for about 7 years. I made a big career change a few years ago though, as the trade almost killed my love of cars. Thankfully, it's coming back now. I've always been a fan of the DSM's, so of course I had to have one.

I've just seen quite a few sweet cars tooling around town, and on the byways, so I wondered if there were any clubs, or people looking to possibly start one. I always liked the club for having great get-togethers, parts and help swapping, fun cruises in the evenings and such, and the ocassional race.

My current car is a slo-mo, but I plan on fixing that in the next year. I just built a new house, and I've got a lot of other bad habits, so it's hard at times to sink a ton of funds into it right now. However, the sun is out longer now, spring is going full-bore, and the desire to take in some nice scenery is pretty strong. But, as we all know, it's no fun to party alone...so here's hoping that maybe some of us can change that!

My nephew has a nice '99 GST that he just got re-painted, and a friend's brother runs a 1g turbo, and of course we know a couple more DSM'ers out there. Hey, I'm game, might as well see if we can possibly make a club!

edited to add: Oh, I've also got a long-time friend in Rogers, so I'm down there ocassionally as well. We have a small web-based hosting gig that we run from there, and he works there, so I make ocassional hardware runs.

Im from springfield, live on the north side and Im always out driving. Currently Ive got a 1g thats a partial lemon(wiring probs) but in the next 2 weeks i get the cash to buy a 2g gst or gsx whichever i can find in the area that is a 5 spd.

Ive met 3 other dsmers from here in town and know a couple more in the area so We might have somethign to get going. As for a car club, maybe depends on details and everything. PM me if ya wanna talk seriously and maybe we can start something up.

Oh, and you should check the meet on the 11th of june out, from what i read its gonna be fun.

Wow, first post in about 2 years, .. Haven't seen your car around before either.

We're meeting up in Mountain home June 11th to visit some of the locals down there that usually come to our meets up here.

Hey, im from missouri... just south of the joplin area actually. currently my talon is all tore apart and getting the motor fully built. i bought an 05 RSX S for a daily driver, so i decided to make a race car out of the talon.
right now im waiting on parts, like the 3065, manifold, and entire fuel system, but after those come in, and my motor gets finished, i'll definately be up for some cruising.
the motor is taking a while because i sent it to a place in Farmington arkansas that builds race motors, they are porting and polishing the head, and intake. By the way, if anyone needs the number of a (somewhat) local machine shop that does porting and actually uses a flow bench, then let me know. i can hook you up.

Auto-X, Sport Compact races (both at OIR and Mokan) and the second "Turbo Cruise" is around that time too not to mention an AWD dyno day at Axis that is being arranged. That is just during the first 2 weeks of June. Bad timing IMO.

Ya ive realized thats a bad time, might have to be pushed back. But I wont be there in my car b/c im selling it... But I will be there some way or another...So if you guys ahve a better date in mind, then shoot them, Nobodys picky...

Hey guys. I live around the Branson area, and I'm definitely down with hangin' with other DSMers. I only know 1 other person in my area that's into it, but his Turbo Laser is always broken. I usually play music with my band on weekends, but I'd like to cruise with some crazy imports anytime. Please, give me a heads up if someone wants to race/cruise. (I'd prefer to cruise considering my cars close to stock)

The further into the summer it is, the better chance of me having a new dsm to bring but whatever, ill be there if it stays the same or if it changes.

Hopefully I'll get to go man, I got my car togeather after a month of being down &misc crap and now my water pump is leaking.

Ya Mike I know how you feel.. I bought mine for 3k and have way more then 5k into it including the price but I just dont care anymore. I am tired of messing with cars...I want a new toy(bike)...

Hows that new tranny doing?

Well, I doubt I'll be driving my car to the meet, I've decided to overhaul my engine. 2g pistons, fresh head, bsek, comp cams.
