Spray heat wrap?

Well I just got done wrapping my exhaust manifold.. I sprayed a ceramic coating first VHT, then used 1x50 dei wrap.. soaked it in water and wrapped it as tight as possible.. Came out much better than the first time ( which was done with manifold on the car).. The metal zip ties dont seem very tight though..

My question is would you guys spray these black hi temp.. I have VHT 2000 which i can spray them again with.. I will be respraying the black on all the metal again and pray it stays on.. Worried if I spray them and it wears off it looks like bad on the wraps.. I didnt spray the last one and it got fiberglass every where in the bay.. Does it matter if I spray them? I kind of like the look as is..

Im pretty sure it flakes off. On a side note, I know its not the greatest look but hose clamps will give you a tighter hold then the metal ties.

Either ceramic or wrap...not both. But since you've already done it, I'm pretty sure there's a spray designed specifically for fiberglass wrap.

I did the tubular header with heat wraps, a few things i learned..

1 it looks great
2 it really helps keep the heat in the pipe and out of the engine bay
3 the heat wrap gets brittle and flakes easily and degrades the look over time, has to be redone every so often
4 tubular headers crack

after spending over 600 on my tubular manifold i ended up swapping to a fp cast manifold, and there it sits on my shelf with a huge crack in it but i look at the photos of when it was installed and it sure looks awesome.. oh yea you should expect the lighter colored heatwrap to darken and it will look awesome after a few heat cycles

how often did you have to change your heat wrap?

Dei make a header wrap spray to seal it. I have used the silver and black before. Helps to keep the water,ect out of it.
