I just rebuilt my Greddy 18g turbo and I installed it properly and made sure it was lubed before driving. When I started to drive it, it went strongly into boost more so than before spooled fully. I only boosted maybe twice and I lost all boost ability and I can still hear turbo spool. Since then I took apart my manifold and checked the diaphram and spring on my wastegate, bov, and even ran my boost controller wide open. I checked for boost leaks and only found a very tiny one at the intake and fixed it. The turbo spins at idle and you can hear it spool driving but I recieve no boost. Any ideas what this could be?

Car is a 1997 Tsi Awd with a 92 6 bolt swap.

I'd say you either have a wastegate problem or have a exhaust leak.

have you checked a couple things like igntion timing with a timing light?? check mechanical timing! check for boost leaks again!! was your boost controller on backwards :hmm: just a couple things you try and check ya know??

yeah i was going to say pre turbo boost leak manifold to turbo gasket or even manifold gasket!! check compression :aha: you never know untill you go over everything WTF

My timing and tune are fine. Car was operating perfectly fine before, this turbo isn't a new addition it just happened to of blown a day ago and I rebuilt it today. Don't have any boost leaks because my system is weld sealed, only couplers are in the front for inter cooler and the turbo to inter cooler coupler. My boost controller isn't on backwards, and I had my waste gate completely apart to check it as well. This is the strangest issue I have ever had on a DSM. Current thoughts are if my turbo was blowing and I had boost turned to 20psi that means on a fresh turbo if be over spooling it. Turbo Labs said I may have blown my front seal from overspool and that is be pushing all my pressure straight into the turbo crank case. talking it back off in the morning and will inform of discoveries.

Sounds like a seal in the Turbo may have went. Did you personally rebuild it? Are you blowing your Dipstick out after boost?

Edit - Ah, I see where Turbolabs suggested that already. :) Good guys. Know their stuff.

yeah turbo labs FTW for sure :hellyeah: and yeah if you are getting nasty crankcase pressure...thats not good do a compression test!!:aha:
