Ive got a 98 gsx and I really dont like the factory wing. Any opinions on wings that would look decent? I'm a fan of the evo wings, and deck spoilers like the wing for the millenium wide body. I'm having a hard time finding wings that have narrow enough mounts, and I think the 2g eclipse just looks wierd without one. I'm also trying to think of downforce, or is that a null point on an awd car

Personally I love the stock, big wing. Rear downforce is important even on FWD cars, though not as much as in RWD and AWD. I remember reading a thread about people that removed their rear wings, general consensus was that removing it worsened their handling, making the car less stable on higher speeds, sometimes dangerously so.

Id like to go with something aftermarket, and carbon fiber. My biggest obstacle is the narrow hatch, I measured it at 35" give or take, and from what I've seen in the style that I like, the blades are 55" or wider. The wing I had on my neon many years ago had a mounting base of upwards of 40" (can't remember exactly) , I really don't want to have to permanently secure my hatch.

i love my high rise wing. i think it looks great! and handling wise i dont know how much it would affect you since youre awd.

imo, any other spoiler besides the oem one looks awkward. But if i didn't have the wing on there i would go wingless.

You could always try to find a carbon fiber oem style hoop spoiler and paint the top to match your paint color. It's Evo style but still oem to DSMs.

*If OEM tri-piece -- remove it or convert to high rise.
*If OEM high-rise -- keep it.
*Anything else ls cabbage unless it's a full on race body kit.

Here is the breakdown you'll get on this thread.
80% -- Keep the high rise,
15% -- Wingless
5% -- Other

As you will see everyone has their own opinion on the subject and you will eventually do what you originally set out to do. And that's why threads like this one are useless.

Remember Stock is Hott! If you go with a spoiler just go with the OEM high rise. IMO im wingless and I like it so much better. If doesnt give the car a Ricer look.

Ive seen a couple guys in my area with the RSX high rise spoiler on their 2G and it doesnt look too bad.

I've found celica gts wings look pretty nice on the 2g body. But that might just be me LOL.

Imo if its the giant whale wing its the only one i think looks good and better then no wing it flows well with the body.

The factory wings/spoilers (on these and most production cars) have very, very little affect on downforce - and any effect they do have isn't necessarily going to be positive or even intended. They were built to be nothing more than visual elements, not functional aero pieces.

i like my oem wing, but prlly going to go wingless here eventually.

anything beside oem or wingless is just dumb imo.
