Spline vs Strength?

Has anyone actually had an issue with the strength of a 21, 22, or 23 spline transmission? If the internals are the same/updated, what difference would the output spline make?

I have a 22 spline TRE tranny and a friend keeps saying why don't you rebuild your 23 spline tranny. I've never had an issue and I've fried a fourth gear, fried a front diff, driveshafts, and a rearend.

Just wondering, cuz I'm in need of another rebuild....

In theory, all else being equal, more splines = more strength. chances are you will never be at the point where one spline is the difference between failure and no failure however. The main reason most people have 23 spine transmissions is that there are more of them out there. There is no such thing as a 21 spine trans.

so the 22 spline must be a 90's trans.
