I searched and didn't find anything on this website forum. For my previous car, a 96 VW jetta, there was a racing fabricator (Shine Racing) that made lower front control arms with spherical bearings in them and sold them to the public. I was wondering, if there was any vendor that did such a thing for the DSMs, specifially the 1G's. If there isn't, what kind of work would be required to fabricate something like this for our control arms? Is it simply a matter of pressing them into a control arm, or is there some welding involved to keep them in the hole? I'm very interested in doing this conversion to my front and rear, however I don't have much time to keep my car apart in order to take dimensions of all the suspension bushings and make a good analysis of what needs to be done.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated :)

Nobody sells them outright, but there are a few threads about doing this yourself. I'll see what I can find. In fact, there are some links to the online stores that sell the proper size/style bearings. I believe you've got to hone out your LCA about 1mm though. I'll edit with more info when I find it.

Wow, thank you!!

It seems that only the front's are needed to be done then. Are 2g's LCA's the same as a 1G's?

well, the arms themselves aren't, but I dont' know about the bushing Diameter. Maybe pick one up from a junkyard to measure and order the parts before you get yours off... no down-time. I've been wanting to do this with mine too.
