i just got a 95 eclipse gs and it had a used tranny put in it, but the speedometer didnt work so i put a new speedsensor in it and it still didnt work. i know that it needs a gear to go on the end of it but idk what gear it is or where to find it. i cant find a picture if one anywhere. but this is a link to the speedsensor i got.

Did the old one not have a gear on it? I just went to the junkyard and paid $7 for my speed sensor when mine went out last year.

when i pulled the old sensor out it wasnt attached to it.

You may have to go fishing. If it didn't have the gear on it, it likely either broke, or somehow slipped off and is still inside the transmission. Or if it never worked since you've owned it, the PO could have not known what he was doing and put a new one in without a gear.

There are plenty of vendors on here that sell quality used parts that are complete, and would probably help you out.

im thinking that when the used tranny was put in that the person that put it in put the speed sensor in without the gear on it. but how would i know if the gear is in the tranny? it should come out with the sensor shouldnt it?

If it broke for whatever reason it wont. Take the sensor out, use a bright light and see if you can see any pieces. If not then you might be ok.

i just took it out abt 2 hrs ago and looked with a flash light and i didnt see anything else in there. just some fluid. so im guessing i just need to find someone with a extra gear so it will work.

If you have a junkyard hit em up, you can grab one from a N/T eclipse, talon, or an avenger.

I got mine from a 96 avenger.

Or call the parts store you got the sensor from and see if they have the matching gear for it as well.
