Speedo broken

So my Odometer and speedo and not working. They have been broken for months, i am finally deciding to figure it out.

So i am going to buy a whole new cluster, my question is, Can i buy a cluster from a car with a A/T and use it on a 5 speed?

Its prob not the cluster. Its most likely the speed sensor located on the top of the Trans.

This. Usually if something fails on the cluster, it's not the odometer and speedometer at the same time.

+1 on the speed sensor. Clusters rarely fail unless you have aftermarket gauges and the PO messed something up.

Before you spend the 90 on a new sensor check the nylon gear on it first, they where out. If its ok hook a drill up to it and have someone watch the Speedo.

Our you can look at the brite side, your not raking up any miles.

1G's didn't have speed sensors... Need a new speedo cable-they will break.

Go out to a yard and snag you a speedo cable for 10 bucks and you're good to go.

Trading clusters around isn't the smartest way since they may have slight differences in electronics, esp for the tach.

hehe, good call. Guess I should look at the profile first huh. Prob because I have a 96 I automatically think 2g.
