Speed sensor issue.

So I got my 420a as a beater while I'm building my gst. The kid I got it from said he replaced the speed sensor and the speedometer still doesn't work. So I ordered a speed sensor from rock auto, it came with a new harness. I started taking things apart to get to the speed sensor on the transmission, and realized the speed sensor was unplugged, and already had an updated harness butt connected.
I redid the wiring with my new harness, and soldered everything. Took the speed sensor out, no gear to be found. I ordered one from Jnz tuning and threw it in, and the speedometer still doesn't work. My only thought is the wiring is incorrect. Has anyone installed the updated harness and got it to work?

It's only three wires... there isn't much to go wrong. If the sensor, gear, and wiring are all there, and the speedometer isn't working, then the speedometer must be broken. You can find them at the junkyard or eBay. You don't have to replace the whole gauge cluster, the speedometer is held in with just four screws.

I had the same problem you are having.

Take the sensor out. Take a flashlight and look in the hole. Look for a plastic ring with curved edges.

The guy who had the car before me had some tranny work done and the shop managed to put it on backwards and it didn't work and it would just pop of. Put it on the right way.

Got a new gear for the inside. Put it on the right way. Got a new gear for the sensor. Bodda bing bodda bow. Works like new.
