Hey you guys.... I am looking at a 91 plymouth laser fwd. it has a jdm engine swap but for whatever reason the company that sent the motor over didnt give the correct ecu. at first they sent a non turbo ecu. the car did not start.... so the owner put in a turbo ecu but it is for an american dsm. i am wondering what symptoms the car would have with a U.S. ecu and a ### Spec engine. the second question I have is where can I find a ### Spec ecu.
1. the car seems to have a lumpy idle
2. the car cuts out sometimes (almost like it had fouled plugs, but plus are new. wires may need to be replaced) at around 5000 rpm. the car has a 'T' in the wastegate hose making it add a few pounds of boost and the weather is about 40 degrees outside.
also, the car has some oil on the transmission case. i dont know if it is just old oil vapor collecting there throughout the years or whether there is a problem with leakage. he says he has to add a half quart every 2 weeks. there is a known oil leak by the turbo which he will fix soon.
car is stock except for that engine swap and the 'T' in the wastegate hose going to the turbo.
do you think the problems one and two are related to this ecu?
