Speaker Problem

My Speakers when ever I play the radio keep fading out, as in the volume going up and down. Should I get new speakers or is it a easy fix?

It actually might be the head unit, or some type of interference. Does it do that when the engine is off? If so that would probably rule out interference. My guess would be the head unit though, when speakers "die"/blow, they usually just die (crackle, etc) not fade in and out.

EDIT: Just noticed you said when you play the radio...if you play a CD or tape do they fade in or out? How about AM instead of FM? Maybe it's just the antenna or reception problems...

You might wanna check to see if your speakers are plugged in all the way, they can come loose sometime

Speakers, if they work at all, won't change in volume on their own. If it was a wiring problem, it would cut in and out or get crackly. Since you said "speakers" plural, I'm assuming this happens in all your speakers simultaneously. Sounds like either the volume control on your head unit is going or the internal amp is going bad. Either way, just get a new deck and be done with it! Especially if it's the factory system.

I'm pretty sure it had to be your head unit... If the wires were loose you'd hear crackling... Replace your head unit with a new one or a different one and see what happends... Im sure its prob that if not take it somewhre to get looked at

Heh yah, mine doesn't work either... I'm pretty sure it's my antenna though. Does anyone know where I could buy an FM antenna?
