okay, I installed my amp and it works good(with one of the DSM'ers help).
Now, i want to install 2 speakers and 1 woofer together. The manual says to use capacitors and other thingi that i cannot remember. Is it necessary to use it? What happens if I dont use it?

depends on the amp a capcitor is only needed if it exceeds 1000w's in that case youll need a 1 farad cap

the amp is only 750 watts. I will be running 2 200watt's and one 700watt woffer together.

they don't really do anygood unless you mount them right next to the sub amp...
with in 3-4 inches.

a capacitor is a "sprinter" and big power wire and a healty battery and alternator are your
"marathon" runners.

a cpa just supposedly helps on transient peaks as the batterytakes a splitsecond (b/c of the chemical reaction) to deliver the power...

I never see any need personally, at that much power and DB's it's too loud to really hear a difference on most music anyway... except maybe that organ music on mechanincs v 5.0... that track is low, fast, and loud!

I think the capacitors he is referring to are used to cut the bass out. If I read the post correctly he is going to have his amp setup in a tri-mode configuration with two high or full range speakers and a subwoofer all running off of two channels. Maybe?

Yea it will be the tri mode.
The woofer wires will be connected with the other two speakers. So all three will be working together. So the diagram said to use a capacitor and the inductor.

the capacitors in this case are used to ensure that only certain frquencies will go to certain speakers much like a crossover. If you do not use it you will get a muddy sound in your sub and could ruin mids and highs by having very low frequencies run to those speakers.

wow, what are u ppl talking about? there is no such thing as a bass cutting capacitor. they call those "bass blockers" theyre little resistors, is all. a real capacitor is different. its made to accumulate a charge in it and let it out as the bass hits. it helps out with your electrical systems during a power drain. its pretty much there to save some fuses, alternators and other crap like that. plus ur lights wont dim as much. i think if ur goin to push like 850+ watt, its a good thought to look into one. a 1 farrad will work fine. if u want to be on a safer side get a 0.5 Farrad cap for that 700watt. also, u need to make sure what the RMS wattage is. if its goin to push like 250-400 RMS, no point, save your money. u need to push a serious amount for a cap or its just throwing money out. as far as blocking out frequesncies on speakers, its best to go with a component set with a set of crossovers. i used to have the "bass blockers" in my old car, it was shit. they are not worth it at all. u dont have to go all out and get the best speakers, get decent ones with crossovers and hook it in. the only thing u'll have to worry about is the tweeter output, if its too much, take it down a notch. all this considering that theres a nice deck in already. if its a shit deck, foget it, it wont sound good no matter what, if u cant send out a clean signal, there is no speaker that will make it sound well.

Are you kidding?

Capacitors can block bass and coils allow it to pass. Regardless, just follow the diagram you have for the tri-mode setup in your amps manual. For example:

I tried out the speakers without any of those capacitors and it sounded loud and clear. The only thing is that the wooder does not give off enough base. So if I were to put in the capacitor and the other little thing needed, It would give the woofer a better base by it self?

Where can I get the capacitors? Maybe at radio shack(Im thinking its just a little part that the wires hooks on both sides --[[[]]]]-- Something like that and speaker wire would go through that) I have seen the big ones that charges up, but I dont think that is needed for me.

Thanks for all your inputs~ DSMTUNERs rocks!~ :thumb: :dsm:

first I hope the amp is trimode capable... I am pretty sure it is based on prior posts.

next what will drive speakers in an incredible manner, is barely enough for a sub to be audible.

I generally run no less thatn 200 watts minimum to a sub, and prefer 300-400 per sub to really get them going, but I genenrally use l5 or l7 or comp VRs in peoples cars.

unless your sub is rated at 100 watts, you aren'y going ot pound with out a dedicated sub amp.

one other thing... you don't happen to have a filter enabled on the amp... do you>>> ???

I didnt see anything that looked liked a filter.

The twin speakers are 200watts and the sub is 700watts. So I dont think the speakers will get damaged or anything. Im not tryin to make the car SHAKE with the base. I just want some good sounding system.

Radio Shack should have the capacitors and coils you need, they should help filter the sound better. I have never actually set a system up with tri-mode so I can't tell you how it will sound, good luck. Make sure you do not have the amp's high pass filter or low pass filter on, you need to have it pushing all frequencies to the speakers.

The big capacitors that help with system power are not the ones you need.
