Langley,
ok, i am installing speakers for the first time. it is probably easier than I think it is but what are the proper steps?
I have 120watt 6.5" JBL's in the back and I have 200Watt 6.5" Alpines going in.
First question, can I use the same wire which was used for the JBL with the higher wattage Alpine? Or do I have to run the wire which came with the Alpine's to the deck(Also Alpine deck)?
Second, is there any soldering involved or is it basically making connections because the box comes with poor directions?
basically need to know how to install because I would like to save money in the future.

p.s. what is the best way to stop the interior panels from shaking/vibrating when the sub kicks? oh yeah, i also have an amp and sub if that effects the install.

A thicker guage wire will improve sound quality and will be capable of handling extra power, but you could probably get away with using the existing wire. There should be no soldering involved, just wrap the positive/negatives around the terminals on the speaker. As for the vibrating door panels, dynamat works wonders.

I wouldn't wrap the wire around the connectors. Just pick up some connectors and crimp them on. Or, the stock wire connectors may just pull off the speakers that are in there and plug into the Alpines.

The wire you have in your car will be fine for the Alpines.

what is dynamat? i was thinking of putting some foam on the inside of the panel to give a cushion between the panels and body, would that work.

oh, and I think because I am not amplifying the speakers the wire in there would be fine. the two sets of speakers are very similar its just that the Alpines are 200 peak power and the JBL's are 120.

i work for a performance/sound shop...you don't have to run wires all the way to the radio, just use the ones that are in the door make sure you have the right power and ground, best way to test is w/ a probe or do some reasearch not sure off the top of my head, even though i should, dont put bass to the speakers they will blow very easily the best way to get the bass is with subs alittle bit of bass to the speakers is not bad but do not blast the bass and turn it up to distortion, helping you out on buying sum more speakers...oh yea dont wrap the wire around the terminals crimp them

Why did you put three commas in that mess?
