i was wondering is this was normal, because i am new to DSM's, i have a worry about my spark plug wires, i have some 10.2mm focuz wires from ebay, and i plug them correctly from what i know, 4123 (firing order) but then when i unplug either one of the 4 spark plug wires that go into the engine, i can see arcing electricity thats traveling from the boots of wires at the other end, idk what its called coils or distributer, i see electricity going from there to the screws beneath, but if i plug all the wires back in, no arching is seen, is this normal? yes my car idles after the engine sits for about 1min, but not when driving, and loss of horsepower too. does anyone have this problem? is this normal? thanks, sorry if you experts need more info, lemme know, thanks.

and i have new spark plugs from autozone (champion) and the spark plug wires are also new, whats a coil cover? a guy from another thread said that fixed his problem, but his arcing is seen without unplugging anything, mine is only visible when one of the spark plug wires from the engine is unplugged. (strong electric noise too)

FIRST, spark plug wires should NOT arc! SECOND, get those JUNK A$$ Chanpions out of your DSM and get a set of NGK plugs. THIRD, get those JUNK A$$ wires off your car.... Go to NAPA and order a set of NGK wires.

You will have NO arcing, and your car will run like it should!!!

haha thanks that was very helpful, i just wont touch them then, and yeah maybe i'll get som NGK's

They are GREAT looking wires, and if you really need to be running an NGK plug in there. They REALLY do make a difference. I have been all over the performance world, and currently own a 400hp Cobra, and a 335hp Supercharged Bonneville..... I have owned a few quick Dodge Turbo's, and even a Honduh that would hold it's own...... ALL RUN OR RAN ONLY ON NGK PLUGS....

Do not use cheap, crappy parts on a DSM! I learned this lesson the hard way! It is worth the extra money everytime to get the good part. Arcing is not good, get some NGK plugs and only runs those with some good Magnacore wires and you'll be golden.

all of those cars were fitted with NGK wires??? wouldnt MSD have been a better option for the american cars??? this makes me think back in time when a customer came asking for NGK spark plugs for his 67 chevy camaro with a supposedly high performance engine .... even though AC DELCO is the most recomended brand for those cars. did you also have NGK spark plugs on all of them as well? LOL

Chanpions= dodge Motorcraft= ford

They will arc if you unplug them from the coil why it is running, like he said it was doing.

NO, I did NOT have NGK wires in all of them, BUT i DID have NGK plugs in all of them! I don't run an MSD wire on my V8's, there are much better wires on the market than theirs.

That's a HUGE myth that if you drive a ford you need motorcraft/autolites, Dodge/Chrysler gets Champion, Chevy's get AC Delco, and Imports get NGK plugs. We don't even stock a Bosch plug, so we don't need to go there.

I have been a parts store manager for A LONG time, and have fixed MANY problems with imports/DSM's by instructing people to throw away junk/high dollar plugs, and run a standard NGK or NGK V-Power plug. My brother currently runs a 450hp 355 chevy in a dirt oval car, and we ONLY run NGK's in there. I have had many turbo cars, and I ONLY run NGK's in them. Even my Cobra, you guessed it, ONLY NGK's in there. They make a great plug, and I recommend this plug over every other plug.

ok if you say so..... so since your saying that it doesnt matter what brand of spark plugs you put in your car..... try running some bosh spark plugs in a dsm and tell me if you get misfires or not. of course any brand of sparkplug will work on any car if its mean to go on it. its just a matter of which one works best. I also work at an auto parts store as well you know so its not like if im just saying things without knowing. you go ahead and keep on recomending ngks to evryone LOL.

I can tell you in 10 years of parts store experience, and 6 years of managing a parts store, I have NEVER had an issue with an NGK plug. So, if the fact that I recommend a plug that I have best experience with is a bad thing, then go ahead and chastise me for it, but I will NEVER sell a champion, ac, or autolite plug when there is an NGK available.

Also, I would not put a BOSCH in ANYTHING!!!!

Any chance you wanna tell me what parts store chain you work with? Not that it matters much, I'm just curious. I have 3 years with O'Reilly's, 1 year at a Western Auto (before they were bought out), and just over 6 years at NAPA now. I think 10 years of parts experiece qualifies me to speak my mind when it comes to auto parts. I'm sorry if you don't agree!

IDK about the BMW's. I guess if there was an application for a Bosch it would be a bimmer. Sorry about the caps. However, my shops that do work on bimmers don't specify a Bosch plug when they order.... So, you guessed it, I send them old faithful. I'm not saying that NGK's are the end all for everything. However, I do sell them to more people, and have used them sucessfully in all of my applications. I guess use what you like, I'm just trying to help out where I can.

Both my SRT4s came with Champian plugs. I run/ran NGKs in both of them :thumb: . Every Neon SRT4 person I know (I know many) run NGKs either Iridiums (sp) in the 6 or 7 heat range or the 4306 cooper. I wouldnt run anything else, Ive had very good experiences with NGK
