Spark Plug Cover Help

Can anybody tell me what the torque specs are for the spark plug cover on a 1990 GSX? Please get back to me w/ any help.

15 to 21 ft lbs is the spec.

TORQUE FOR THE SPARK PLUG COVER is nothing!.

It's just a plastic cover.

Did you mean the valve cover?

Either one "torques" to just a bit over TWO FT-LBS

That means you install them with a screwdriver, or a nutdriver. No wrenches. No cranking. Just down to "snug", and then at most, another ¼-turn.

hope he didnt crack his valve cover. 21ft-lbs to one of those small 10mm bolts would crack the thing in two (i've gone through 3 valve covers so far...good thing I can get them from my scrapyard for 10 a pop =)

Oh, no problem. That's more than I use for plugs, though- just down to "firm", then another quarter-turn. Old-school stuff. From the days of early aluminum alloy heads.

I kinda think my post got the idea across.

I learned to deal with iron heads and aluminum heads at the same time so I always use a torque wrench on anything more expensive than a lawn mower.
I'm just ticked that after what seems like 100+ posts on the correct torque and procedures for valve cover on both the 4G63 and the 420a, I did the pooch big time on this one.

I must have missed nap time on Thursday.
