Ok guys I purchased a sparco type steering wheel with the buttons to use as the shifter buttons for my shift box and am having a heck of a time figuring out how to rout the wiring so that it doesnt wrap around the steering wheel when I turn any suggestions? Yes I have looked and looked.

In my camaro days, I had a no brand wheel with two buttons on it, but it came with two plates you put between the wheel and base, pretty much two metal tracks spaced apart in the plates, when you push the button it pushes the top track onto the lower track grounding out giving you signal.

You could possibly disable your horn and use that connection inside the steering wheel.

I've not messed with the clock spring in a dsm but in a ford it was a bi***. Quick n dirty if you dont need a down shift on the steering wheel is use the horn wire for the upshift. But, that would apply to a stock steering wheel. Not sure if the aftermarket one you have even has a horn. Does not sound like it.

You will need to use the clockspring, or find an aftermarket. That is the only way to do it. You can use wires for the cruise control to do this.
