Think this will cause a spool problem?

Less than 2000 miles on it and nearly the entire weld cracked. A small amount of pressure from my hand seperated the wastegate runner from the collector completely. However Kevin over at AGP is being more than cooperative with helping me replace it. :thumb: to AGP

Crap, I have one of them manifolds too. Actually, I think quite a few people have them. I thought i read another dsm'er who had some welds split but it wasn't as bad as yours. Mine probably has around 2k miles on it. Those SFP's were suppose to be extra thick to prevent cracking.

I made a custom bracket that goes from the frame to the 02 housing to help support the manifold. I don't think its a bad idea. I've seen people make brackets on things like 02 housings to help support the wastegate so things like that don't happen.

Anybody else have cracking on these manifolds?

I have the SPF manifold as well. It's been on for around 3K miles so far so good except for the ceramic coating flaking off. I put header wrap on it to reduce the thermal cycling stress. Did you happen to have header wrap on yours? Did it ever get wet from coolant or washer fluid while hot?

That sucks man. Very worrysome.

I would not wrap it. I had mine wrapped and the weld around the collector cracked in very short time! Got it rewelded, and I have had it on the car daily driving for months with no issues. Its ugly without wrap or coating, but if it means no cracking I'll take it!

This is a Full T4 SFP manifold, but I'm sure the same applies to AGP/SFP T3/T4 manifolds as well.

My SFP manifold cracked in the same weld area; half way. Thanks for the post I have over 4K miles when I discovered it today. :notgood:
