So im in a bind here. I was going to post this in the general section, but i didnt want the 4g63 guys to see this b/c they would def. be way biased in their opinion. Please dont bash me either for asking you guys this either...

i have an ESI, ATX, with about 100,000 miles on it. Its a clean car w/ subs and an amp. Its starting to rust a little bit on the driver's side rear wheel well. Its got new front axels, t-belt and water pump, head gasket, and valve cover gasket.

as far as mods, its got a CAI, 2.5 in cat back exhaust, high flow cat, 4-1 header w/ downpipe, 8.5mm spark plug wires, ported TB, and front a rear strut bars.

Ive got a UDP, shift kit, drive gears, and a stock Intake Manny just sitting into my room.

BUT, i just wanted to ask you NT guys what i should do with my car. Im stuck between selling it before dropping anymore money into it, and trying to go for a 5.0 mustang (88`-93`), a corvette (78`-85ish`) or stick with my car.

what would you guys do? Im really looking for just a fast street car. i wanna have a car quicker than most cars out there.

Its my first car, so its gunna be hard to let go either way. :talon:

Definitely stick with the car. Depending on how bad the rust is(which it doesn't sound bad right now), it can be fixed. The car has alot of potential, especially since it's got the new t-belt and other gaskets. Selling it for a 5.0 or older vette would be a mistake because you're just subjecting yourself to older, more worn cars that are more likely to break down than your DSM believe it or not.

It just seems like to me that a 5.0 and an older vette just has more of a power plant to "start off" with than what ive got. I just kinda feel that it'll take a hell of a lot of money to get to where i wanna be with the car, than with something with a v8 or so.

But then again, i have no knowledge with the mustangs or vette, and a decent set of knowledge with the NT. So i wouldnt know what i would be getting myself into with a mustang or vette.

any more advice?:talon:

If your worried of the N/T's potential against the Vettes and Stangs

Jus look around for an AWD. Even though you may not want to. If you want more traction off the line.

Although the 420A's are very capable of running good 1/4mile times. Remember though, jus because your car has a lot of HP, doesn't mean its the fastest, its all about transfering the power to the wheels correctly without wheelslip

yeah, i think im gunna stick with it. It just seems like too much work trying to sell it.

ha, i actually just started collecting for my custom kit. I just made offers on an autometer boost gauge and a/f guage. And im trying to get a 16g turbo w/ little shaft play on ebay right now... we'll see though.

you can find plenty of 16Gs without any shaft play for around $200. Just pay the few extra $$ for the one with no shaft play. You should also check out GSGoinFast's Article on how to build you custom stage 2 kit for less the 1K.

You have to decide if you really liek the car and what financial you can afford. If your worried about money at all then any vette is not for you. The 80's vettes are cheaply priced for a reason. they are expensive as hell to maintain. Especially since you mentioned 85 which was not all that great of a tuned port setup. 5.0 mustangs will nickle and dime you because they are already over 10 years old and will need a fair amount if daily driven. Insurance will destroy you if you are under 25 with a less than perfect record.

Either dump tons of money into your esi or buy a cheap 1g AWD and keep the esi as a daily car. You should not start building a daily driven car. If your work is not up to par then things tend to break.

yeah, im starting to think now that i may need to get a beater or some shitty ass car if i'd like to build up my ESI. either that, or buy a shitty 1g awd, and pour money into that and use the esi as a DD.
