Ok i know you all can get creative and have some fun with this one So lets get goin.
Well to start i've got myslef a 95 gsx 5spd it has 150000 miles. I got it as a shell with just a 7bolt block with new crank and a tranfercase. i got al kinds of other things like pulleys, brackets a full a/c system old stock rods and pistons, intake and ehaust manifold but i was missing a head and tranny. So heres what i have and plan on using the rest i have ideas about but want some ideas thrown out there.

7bolt block with new crank (needs to be cleaned and rebuilt still)
97 head that has a bent valve (obviously lookin to get it rebuilt)
2g intake and exhaust manifolds
1g throttle body (going to have intake manifold port matched)
origional transfercase that was working fine ( has 150000 miles should i rebuild it for peace of mind or should it be fine?)

Ok now my origional plans where to send the block and head to sbr and get the stage 2 7bolt long block that they have listed on their site. link----> http://www.slowboyracing.com/more.php?id=1897& and for the tranny i was gonna go for a used tranny that needs a rebuild and have shep rebuild it (not sure of which stage though) and for the turbo i'm sure i want a 50 trim hybrid and for the intercooler i was thinking the XS power fmic. then i would have to get all the other things like 255 fuel pump, fpr, fuel rail, bov, boost controler, turbo timer, gauges, shifter bushings and all that little stuff. i'm basiaclly lookin to spend around maybe $8000 on the motor turbo setup and tranny if i can get away with spending less then that would be awesome.

It might also help if i told you my goals too now wouldn't it? Ok i hoping for low 12s high 11s. The car will be a daily driver maybe once or twice a month it will see the track. i know the 50trim will get me there but not sure what kind of internals or head related things i'm gonna NEED to achieve my goals. i want the best stuff but if i'm not going to come close to pushing the limits of the parts then i'd rather save a little money and downgrade a little. ok so now its your turn what should i be lookin at getting?

a full race motor is over kill for an ET goal like that. stock 6 and 7 bolts have found their way even lower than those numbers. IMO, with a goal like that, rebuild a 6 bolt with your standard .020 over bore, etc. with a ported 2g head and bolt ons. That will be more than enough to even trap close to 115- 120 with an AWD.

If you want MY ideal setup, here it is:
FP3065 or 3052
AEM EMS
standard supporting mods
built head with fp2x's or 272s
6bolt with whatever combination
SBR race FMIC
dogbox/shep trans
and lots of boost and tuning.

And THAT's overkill to achieve a 12 or high 11 timeslip, but it also allows for more headroom.
 
haha ya i figured it was all way over kill but what can i say i want the best of everything but atthe same time i wasn't too sure what was needed to achieve my goals. thanks for the input.
 
well let me be the first to say before someone else does.........if your gonna order a Stage II longblock, make sure its a 6 bolt ok:thumb: . If your gonna spend 10k at least you should have some peace at mind knowing it's a 6 bolt
 
alright so looking into things a bit more i'm really really interested in the fp3052. so here are some new plans rebuilt block with eagle rods ross pistons 2g head with the fp2xs. still keeping all the other stuff mentioned before. also thinking dsmlink will do the job well. and ya i had the 7bolt already so i feel inclined to use it but its a back and forth thing everyday. will probably end up with a 6bolt just cause i need to get all the extra stuff anyways.

Do a 6bolt/7bolt hybrid and have best of both :)
 
what do you guys think i should do as far as the head goes? i'm thinking of havin 6bolt bottom and 2g head with fp2xs should i be lookin at porting? lifters? springs? all that wonderful stuff or would i be fine with stock stuff?
