I havent done a compression test recently but i have a question. My car smokes and sorta smells like oil some times but there are only like 3 things it could be i think. The motor was rebuilt w/ mods in profile BUT it wasn't bored :-/ (not my choice, i just helped assemble it) Im wondering if there is some expansion in one of my cylinders considering there's like 130+k miles on the block. Either that or one of the rings hasnt seated properly somehow, or its a faulty/leaky hg. The last time i DID do a comp test the results were normal except for cylinder number 2 which read 149. All others read about 170+/- a few. 8.5:1 pistons. That was with about 1k miles on the motor and i posted a while back about my car losing coolant so thats when i did that. I retourqued the head studs since they were never re tq'd and a few on the right side of the motor i could give quite a few turns before they even got tight. What you think it could be? Think the block shouldda got bored?

Oil means either valve seals, piston rings, or turbo seal.
Pull the lower intercooler pipe to check turbo seal.
Pull the exhaust manifold to check valve seals. Compression test will check your rings.
121 is the service limit for compression test.
With no more than 14psi difference between cylinders.

You might be better off running a leak down test though. It will be able to tell you what is bad and how bad it is.
