Well, my car failed the first time.....barely. I passed everything except the HC's, below 100 was passing and I was 101. So now I put on a new cat, and swapped the 450's back in. Any other ideas/ suggestions before I try again?

It seems you were so close that should be good. Huh, smog testing, that must suck. MI doesn't have anything like that. I feel for all you guys. Good luck with your next test.

Running some injector cleaner always helps beforehand... If you still fail you could always do the denatured alcohol trick, although it seems you wont need it since you barely failed.

Make sure you also have fresh plugs, wires, and O2 sensor. IIRC high HC is most likely caused by burning a little oil, possibly from worn rings, valve stem seals, or turbo seals. Consider changing to synthetic 20W50 oil. The new cat will help, too.

Since you swapped injectors you should drive the car for several days until the fuel trims settle down.

I keep a good new cat in my closet for smog checks, and use a high flow cat the rest of the time.

PASSED!!!!!!! I got a 68 on the hydrocarbons. I did the following: Swapped in stock fuel injectors, new aftermarket cat, put in walboro 190 pump. I am good for two years.....where the cams at?
