smog test in cali?

I have a 95 gst, with 3inch pipeing, 50trim turbo, intake, headers, spark plugs, and a apexi afc Nea (watever that is) its in my glove conpartment.

now im looking for see if i can pass a smog test.... and if not what i can do to pass, i will post pic asap....

now about the Apexi Afc Nea, what is it, and what i can do with it. im also looking to get a turbo timer and boost controller.

Do you have a cat on there? Are all you emissions lines intact and on? I have heard of people running methanol to pass emissions. I believe it is the new AFC Neo, its the next generation of S-AFCs, its a tool to tune your engine, you would need a logger of course to view whats going on inside the engine. A MBC sounds like a good idea, and I would get an aftermarket boost guage since our stock guages are bhout as accurate as a blind kid thowing a football.

You may have a chance it you have a really good tune. But, you will NOT pass visual. Once the inspecter sees your 50 trim, intake and headers they will fail you. They will fail you for anything that does not have a C.A.R.B sticker. The only way you can run aftermarket parts for your car is if the California Air Resource Board approves the part for your car. There is a small list of parts that are approved.

A cat back exhaust shoud be ok. But, they will usually hit you for not having a stock Blow off valve or even an air filter that is not stock or approved. I suggest you put your stock parts back on for the test.

Right on Bmrx152! In all reality though in San Diego that is pretty much the only way to go.

In some places it is not so harsh on the smog test but, it all depends on the area. Some places you can get away with a 16g turbo and maybe a bov and others they seem like they can tell the difference from a T25 to a T28. One thing I did learn from a smog ref was that you can have another blow off valve as long as it is not adjustable(like the 1g or evo mr bov).

So, is this common in your area? Then again, it is norcal. I guess it is just socal that must be screwed.

Did the inspector point out stuff and ask questions? I know of a couple of ways to "hide" things but a 50 trim? Also, how many other people do you know in cali that pull stuff like that off?

Wow besides having hot girls and nice beach weather(SoCal) Cali sucks, I would just move into Nevada, on the border, and mod away I love not having to worry about emissions.

There are websites that have the CARB releases for certified parts. Print a release for a simliar product (aka "headers" from another company that got certified) and show the tech if he asks any questions, chances are he may not be able to tell one brand from another.
