I have a 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST. Everytime I accelerate it stinks, and I just recently changed the oil and the lights already turning on again. Someone told me I'm probably burning to much oil and it could be the gasket. Well thats one of the problems, the other one is sometimes when I brake hard the car turns of for a second and turns on again, what could that be. So what do you guys think, and what can I do to fix these problems?

from my expierence all Dsms smell bad when driving behind them. but as for the oil light check the connection on the oil pressure switch clean it and put it back on. if your thinking head gasket try a compression test and a leak down test..

First just do the compression test and let us know the results.

Is your car smoking at all? Is it mixing coolant and oil?

actually it was smoking when I didnt have my catalytic converter. Then when I got it, it doesnt smoke anymore.
