well i have a aem intake, and it came with a filter, i decided to buy a K&N filter to replace it, when i got it in the mail, the filter fits, but the filter that came with the aem intake is twice the size of it. jw, would using this small filter, put any damage to anything? i dont think it would but why would aem give me such a big filter, makes me question it, I dont feel like returning it but obviously if its gonna cause damage im going to have to. just wanna make sure before i use it. The aem filter hardly has room as it is, thats one reason why i bought a smaller one, but i didnt realize it was gonna be that small, guess thats what i get for being to lazy to actually measure it.

this is what i bought.

Im not a physics guru or anything, but Im pretty sure the bigger the air filter the better. The more air avaliable for the turbo the more it can suck up. If you have a smaller filter, you may be restricting its ability to draw air into the compressor. (More so with a bigger turbo)

Well hes NA. So it doesnt matter. It may be true, but I dont understnad how, so please fill me in as im vaaaaary interested. I see it like, if you have say a 3'' opening and 3'' inlet and top dia. air filter vs. a 3'' inlet and 5'' top dia, they really should both flow the same since the in portion is the same size?

If the filter fits onto the pipe it's filtering, and sticks out a half-inch, it'll be big enough. You'll have lower specific flow as a filter gets larger, but the filtering effect won't be changed enough to make a difference to the engine.
The eBay filter you show will be good to go.
