Well I have a 91 Eagle Talon 5-speed. When I shift into 2nd and 3rd I get a small grind. No grind under 2k RPM's. I looked and pretty sure the 90-91 is not adjustable (please correct me if i'm wrong) because I saw no lock nut or nut on the slave cylinder. That is where I was told it would be. Fluid is good, slave cylinder is good. So i'm thinking its the tranny. But it almost feels like the clutch is not engaging all the way, but I hear some kinda nasy noise when it idles comming from the tranny (like metal shavings ratteling around.

My real question is, how hard would it be to open up the tranny and fix this problem? Should I just replace it with a used tranny? I know how to take the tranny out and stuff thats np I am a mechanic for the Air Force. We dont deal with rebuilding tranny's though. We contract them out or just replace them. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks and if I'm wrong on anything I stated please do correct me. :talon:

Not sure about the problem in and of itself, but I can tell you one thing..

This is my 1st teardown of a tranny, same car as you. 91 NT Talon 5spd FWD..

Clocked a little over 3 hours of work from the time the tranny came off the block until I had the input shaft out and was staring at a bearing missing 4 steel balls.. ;-/

If your an Air Force mechanic, you should be able to do it a bit better / faster than me, but keep in mind, this is my first attempt at rebuilding.

If ya need any suggestions / help / pictures, let me know, and i'll be more than glad to supply you with what I can.

Yea, if you could e-mail me any info you have (or post it if its not too difficult so everyone can benefit fromit) I would really appreciate it. My e-mail is [email protected] Being a mechanic will help with getting the tranny in and out, but as far as the rebuild. I'm clueless, haha. I can pick up a used tranny for 100 bux at a local junk yard. So I think i'm going to swap the trannies but I still want to rebuild one because who knows how long a used one will last.

Thanks for the reply and any help you can give.
