2nd Gear Grind

My girlfriend just bought a 96' GST that we knew needed a clutch. When we test drove it 2nd gear grinded pretty bad. The owner said it never grinded before the clutch completely went, so I replaced the clutch with a 2100 ACT and resurfaced stock flywheel, along with a factory throw out bearing. After the new parts 2nd gear still grinds unless I shift under 1500rpms. I tried shimming the slave cylinder, bled the clutch numerous times, adjusted the petal, and put in syncromesh. 2nd gear still seems to grind pretty bad. Any suggestions?

You're probably not going to want to hear this but it sounds like the second gear synchro inside your transmission is worn.

I agree, I was about to say the same thing. After my second gear synchro went out my first started to go. When that happened my car would start popping out of gear at speeds below 10mph while in first gear.

ouch..... Mine was grindinging really bad too, and I also could only shift under like 2k rpm.... like a week later the tranny completly took a crap, cracked some gear teath and broke the center diff...... sorry man but it sounds like you need a new transmission soon.

What kind of fluid is in the trans? Try changing to redline mt-90 trans fluid, might be a bit of a band aid until you can get a new trans.

I have sancromesh in there now. A couple people told me the same thing your all saying so ill take your word for it and look for a new tranny. I guess its a much more typical problem than I thought. Thanks everyone for your help
