Hey guys i installed slim fan , and it does not cool the car enough. Its a push fan not like oem, so maybe thats the problem ? I should swith + and - and it will turn the other way and i may solve the problem? It works , turns on when certain temp is reached , but just does not cool down the car, i have to turn on my heater on high so i would not blow up. Help please , its getting warm oustide :)

its a push , i didnt try to swith the + and - , i think it might help , and it was overheating moslty still or at wooooot :D
You are so confusing, instead of making up your own answers, answer my questions with just yes or no answers as if you were on a witness stand.

1. Is it mounted on the inside of the radiator as in inside the engine bay?

2. Is it blowing air towards the back of the car?

3. Are you overheating just standing still?

4. Are you overheating under WOT?

5. Are you overheating just cruising on the highway?

Now go ahead and add anything you like but only after you have provided yes or no anwers for 1-5.

You would make a good lawyer :D

FWIW - On the slim fans I bought at Pep Boys (I forget the brand), you have to flip the blades for a puller configuration due to the way they are made to mount up next to the radiator and the blade design. (I guess you could leave them as is and mount them backwards and/or reverse the polarity.. but that's a lot more work than just removing a nut/clip and flipping the blades over LOL.

These fans are bi-directional, but they come out of the box configured as pushers. So for a puller you have to either flip the fan (either as recommended... inside the housing, or by flipping the entire fan and complicating the mounting).... or reverse the wire polarity. I went with the recommended method because as another poster stated, my fan had blades that were designed for max flow in one direction.

Step #1 on the mounting instruction sheet :D

many fans like the Spal posted have a unidirectional fin design, you can't just reverse the polarity, it won't work properly, they're curved like submarine props to cut through the air with less turbulence and noise, you'd really be doing yourself a diservice by buying a $180 pusher spal and reversing the polarity.. it'll just be loud and probably move less air than stock.

That's why a pusher/puller fan will be specified as pusher/puller, not all aftermarket fans are pusher/puller. It also depend on which Spal fan you're talking about, mine spal fans that came with Buschur FMIC kits does not come with curved fins and are bi-directional pusher/ puller fans. http://spal.webprofessional.it/default.php?t=site&pgid=39

Not to argue with an old wise man (who is probably younger as well as much wiser than me :D )... but just check your fan and instructions. Some are unidirectional, some are designed for a specific direction and require a fan flip... others will recommend a polarity swap or changing the fan in the housing to change between pusher/puller.

Just read the damn instructions that come with your fan.... :)

My fan blads can't be flipped, they're one piece and can not be seperated from the center. I don't have the instrustions anymore, got them about 4 years ago but I remember it says to change the polarity when mounting in front of the radiator.

Well damn Bruce... 4 years ago? technology has changed!

ROFL J/king... The only reason I know about the fans optimized for one direction etc etc was I just went through the slim fan thing a month or so ago with an FMIC install/over-heating problem... had to learn the hard way.

Now my Talon is torn apart and I'm learning about a bunch of other crap the hard way... much different than building small block chevys back in the day :)

My suspension mods on my Camaro were new wheel bearings and air shocks.. ... But taking the tranny out of my DSM.. that turned into new axles and prothane bushings... and I'm kind of used to a cam change consisting of pulling the radiator and water pump; not tearing apart the entire driver' side of the engine compartment ... advancing the timing meant pulling over into McDonalds and twisting the distributor that you never bothered to tighten down completely... LOL

But hey... I'm learning ;)
