So the GST grinds a little when you go into 3rd unless you are between 2200 and 2500 RPM in 2nd gear before you shift. I am mashing the clutch to the floor. It sometimes but very rarely wants to grind if I throw it into 4th I usually let it just slide in cause I am not racing the car or anything.

Other than that I have noticed it will pop out of gear in third if Didnt make sure it was good and in there. If I lazily shift it pops out but not if shift it well. I am thinking Slave.

Anyone else have insight?

Yes stop driving I just put 3000 in my car same problem I own a 96 gsx. I was the transfercase that heated up so much the intermediate shaft was perminately stuck in the trans. Also the trans just needed syncros and a new intermediate shaft. Clutch was also not adjusted right and slave cylinder was bad

Grinding in a gear is usually worn syncro (test here: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/313040-first-constant-grind.html). Grinding in all gears is usually misadjusted clutch.

Gear popping out possibilities: When the 3rd-4th shift fork width gets extremely worn it can pop out of gear. Mine popped out of 4th but it could also be 3rd. See: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/290238-popping-out-4th-gear.html#post151566175. It can also be due to bad synchros, bent shifter fork, or worn hub & sleeve.
