I have replaced my alternator(it clearly went out). My car still would die after replacement and after awhile I figured out it was the wire that comes from the alternator to fuse box. I replaced it and got a new battery. It runs ok now but sometimes the headlights will dim and the dash will so I will have to rev it up high and it all gets brighter and works fine the rest of the drive/at least awhile.(seems to only charge good after a few high revs) Also sometimes I will turn off the car and the battery will be dead when I try and start it again.(not completely dead just not quite enough to turn it all the way over)
-the belt was lose(slipping which I could hear) I tightened it, but could it still be slipping? it seems pretty tight
-got a bad reman alternator?(autozone/advance parts suck)
-check connections again?/clean them?
-check fuse?

I'm going to try all these but any other suggestions? trying to get this car sold after literally replacing almost every part on the car. Something is literally breaking every week and I'm done with dsm's after spending hundreds of dollars a month for the last 3 years.
thanks for the help!

Take the car to autozone or advance and have them test the alt on the car. I bet its bad. I went though about 3 alts in 2 months on my 90 gsx before It got parked, for other reasons.

I too can attest to the shit quality of remans. I went through 3 in a few weeks on my 95 tsi. Also turned out to be a problem with a "voltage regulator" or something that the PO had hacked out of the harness. That was a year ago. I'm sure my old thread on it is still around somewhere.
