I hate being a Noob so forgive this dumb question. I just received my Evo III turbo/GT headers/Install kit and am waiting for the Walbro 255/680 injectors/Fuel PSI reg/boost controller/SAFC.

Of course like a kid on Christmas morning I opened the kit and the EVO III "looks" small. Is it supposed to be larger than stock? It measures about 5 inches across. The markings looks correct (TDO5OH/whatever that number that designates EVO III). Somebody put my mind at ease please!!!

Also, I have a 3 inch Greddy exhaust and a couple of months ago the muffler rusted through. I was low on money so took it to a muffler shop that welded up a 2.5 inch muffler (no name POS) . Does anyone have a guess on how much HP that will rob?

Evo 3 will look like a stock turbo, but are you measuring the turbine wheel or exhaust wheel or just looking at it ? It's in the same td05 housing is why it looks the same.

yes, the evo III 16g looks almost identical to the 14b besides the markings. No worries. just a difference in turbine size.
As for the muffler question probably not that much for how much horsepower you are pushing. If you had upwards of 400 horsepower then it might cause some problems.

A few weeks ago i came across a free 16g turbo so naturally i grabed it i have a 18g myself and i compared it with my t 25. The housing was about an inch and a half bigger all around the thing that was much larger was the inlet and outlet which i'm guessing means it has a bigger wheel. So correct me if i'm wrong the housing isn't big but the wheel is. You know the old saying is true true beauty is on the inside. Sorry had to say it and the muffler shouldn't harm you much unless your pushing mad amounts of exhaust and since your only getting a 16g evo 3 it won't harm you much if at all

Don't worry, the EVOIII turbo performs better than it looks. It pulls quite hard for such a relatively small turbo. You can also check the part number on the compressor housing. It should be 49178-01470. The 47 will be stamped into it instead of cast like the other numbers. Hope this helps your anxiety.:)

Thanks for the replies....my mind is feeling more at ease. My car feels fast now but I can't wait to see what this combo will do. I checked the turbo and it has the correct numbers. I've got about $1500 in parts coming in so I hope I "feel" a big difference in the performance. It's a spyder and I have no track intentions just want a legitimate street machine. We'll see....does anyone else have a similar setup with thoughts and advice?

LOL I had heard so much about the Evo3 and saw one for the first time on this other's guy's car. I was expected something just a bit smaller than a 50 trim and was shocked to see it was about the same size as the T28 I had.

But hey, it's proven to give impressive results, so who cares right?
