So i was in the auto parts store the other day just lookin around and i came across silverstar. Ive known about them for some time but never bought them. A friend of mine bought them after getting projector headlights and he seems happy. But i saw 2 different kinds in the auto parts store. One was a set of the cool blue silverstar lights, and the other was HID look silverstars. The bulbs them self were half colored in Purple, and it said on the package emits a soft bright purple light to get that full HID look. and the reason for the purple glass was to have the look of purple hid's when not lit or somtin like that. Anyone seen these b4? anyone have them or had both sets and which is better and brighter? Im runnin APC super whites now, they are bright, real bright but im lookin for better cuz in the rain the super whites suck. Or if anyone knows of the best bulbs on the market, besides full out HID's which i cant afford right now, please feel free to put your feed back as to what you have found to be the best

I have silverstar's in my car. The only pic of them I have is in the daytime, They're pretty bright I guess. I got them brand new for free so i'm not complaining at all.

I actually love Silverstars, but now I am trying to con ert my car over from a 1Ga to a 1Gb, cause I am ordering HID. We are becoming a dealer through the place I work. 8000k :thumb:

I have the silverstar HID look alikes, they are not purple though, they are bright white. They are way brighter then stock and one of the best bulbs of the shelf at auto stores IMO.

i got 4 silverstar super white lights for about 20 bucks, gotta love it when you get hooked up... but they are way brighter than the lights that were in before, that probly along wiht the fact that i cleaned and polished my headlights tho. they do look nice tho.

im not tryin to get off topic or break the rules here..(mods u can delete if u want) but i gotta pair of fog light silverstars..i bought em for 40 bucks at Pep Boys thinkin it would be an easy install like the headlights...errr..i was wrong..so im too lazy to install em now...

btw i got the silverstar HID ones for the headlights and i love em...nice n white

8000K isnt that impressive.

cool for color shade, but not cool for driving.

4100/4300 is the brightest light output you can get from Real HID's

check it out before you drop some cash in your conversion.

I too have the HID look silverstars. I will never buy another bulb again! These are amazing. The bulb has a chameleon effect to them, purple/blue.....but anyhow, these bulbs rule :thumb:

Yeah. I had them in my Talon also. I also had them in my foglights. Now in my 93 S-10 I have the Silver Stars. Every vehicle I own will have them. Unless I get HID's for them.

Given that the original poster said he wanted lights that work well in the rain, I would definately not reccomend the HID look bulbs. The HID look bulbs have more "blue" light in them than the other Silverstars. Blue light is what scatters when it hits something like rain. The "warmer" colored bulbs actually work better in the rain, but don't look as cool. That is why many foglights are yellow instead of white. Yellow has no blue in it to scatter.

Get the regular silverstars. The HID look bulbs will also suck in the rain.

the company we go through offers 8000k max. I have never sen them over that. Not to say they do not make them, cause they may. Flat out, the 8000k on our shop car is bright as all hell. I have even been behind cars and had the car i was in, light the road of the car in front of me

They make HID kits that have a color temp of over 8000k. I have a 6000k kit in mine and I love it. Lights up the road really well at night. I've seen 8000k on other applications and they look awesome.

You'll love them :thumb:

woooo hoo I just posted my first vid.... Ya, I am excited about the lights too LOL
