Well my friend who owns a mitsubishi eclipse Tsi AWD told me that his friend with a Talon second gen like mine, removed a silencer from his stock air box and he says it would suck up about 30% more air giving it more take off just wounder what the silencer is and how to take it off???

Crap, I don't remember anything about the stock airbox, it's been so long since I had it. Maybe he's just telling you to get any free air intake which is what most people would do.

Maybe he means take the air box off and throw on a filter at the end of the pipe.

I think what he means is the silencer thats right where the intake tube connects to the box. There is this silencer thing there its one restrictive mofo from what i can see . Not sure on the website i found to take it off. There were a couple screws somewhere and you had to unclamp it. Someone else know? Hope that helps out.

He is probably talking about that "silencer" that some 2g's have between the lower IC pipe and the turbo. I just noticed my car had one. It just unclamps and you can usually stretch the lower IC pipe to fit.
