Sideskirt screw size

I'm looking for the screw size of the screw that hold the side skirt on in the front wheel wells. There are two screws up there and I think they're part number MS450174. Not 100% sure on that though. I want to buy longer ones because I'm trying to use those screws to mount some mudflaps.

Should be M8's, if its the bolts that you are talking about. I think thats what I used because I had to get longer ones to just install the fender caps on my RS. Probably just need one 1/4" longer, take yours into the hardware store and compare.

I did take it to the store and screw it into the little tester things and the only one that fit really was 1/4-28 which doesn't make sense. You'd figure it was metric. The screws are OEM too. I'll go check again tomorrow though.

M8's are way too big.

Sorry! Try M6. My metric is off. Should be a 10mm bolt head. Sometimes license plate screws are the same and the right length.

I tried M7 and M6 and they weren't right!

Are the threads fine or coarse like a screw?

Hmm, I looked and it says M6x20 for the screw I need. Of course, Home Depot doesn't have that.

Edit: is the "x20" the length? Because I bought an M6 screw and it was too skinny. And about the thread pitch, it's fairly fine but not too fine.
Also, gofer should know this size for sure since, I believe, he got longer ones for the same purpose as me. Hopefully he gets on the forum this evening and can remember the size.

Yeah the x20 is length. Could be that the clip is stripped out. I think its an S type clip. Might be worth buying off that link instead of going everywhere to find something that will work. I also used a washer to give the bolt head more surface area. If you find one that has a flanged head then you won't need to get a washer.

Go to Bolt Depot - Nuts and Bolts, Screws and Fasteners online. They have a crazy good selection of metric fasteners...including 18-8 stainless.

Alright, I was wrong! I had tried M8 and M7. I went and bought some M6x30 and they fit! Thanks guys, don't know how it fits when the OEM screw didn't fit into Home Depot's M6 threading...

It could have been the the first half of the threads were stripped, but using a longer bolt caught the second half of the threads. Congrats though!
