I need to replace the door and fender side moldings on my 91 Talon TSi AWD. The moldings are all cracked and warped from age and eventhough they were repaired a while back, this time they have to go. The problem is that there are no Talon moldings availiable for the 90-91 models. I got hold of a brand new set for a 91 Eclipse but they are not the same size, the ones on the Talon are about 1/4" wider. I painted those and overlayed them in the car to see the looks and they just don't cut it, aside from the fact that I haven't replaced the quarter panel molding (with the vents).
What I would like to know is if I can fit a set of moldings from the 92-94 production models. These have better looks and I can get them for a good price brand new. I asume that the door and quarter panels are the same size for all 90-94 1g models as well as the fender part where the molding goes right??? Can someone confirm this, I just don't want to buy another set of moldings that i can't use.

Here are some pictures of what I want to do, replace the 1Ga for the 1Gb moldings:

They will fit. At first I thought you were refering to the 1gb Talon moldings that go part of the way up the door,in that case you would have to do some drilling. You will be fine, the mounts are the same. I'm in the process of replacing mine too.

No problem. I'm in the process of taking the 93-94 Talon moldings that go to the center of the door, and cutting them where the line is because I can't find any of the 90-91 Talon skirts locally. They will end like the ones in your first pic.

Same boat here i am trying to track down one for my 93,and it does go up half the door, but i know it just a matter of time till one shows up at the junk yard.I found some for you guys 1ga but not for the 1gb

I wouldn't even be looking for any if I hadn't lost one of my door pieces on the highway LOL! I went back 20 miles looking for it,gone. Plus I was missing my drivers side cap,and I got the whole Talon set I'm modifying for $40 bucks,so I'm not out anything if I mess up. I'm going to start a thread about it when I get more of it done.

Wish I could go to the salvage yards and find molding pieces like that. Anything is far and few between around here.

The salvage yard near my house has 5 1g cars. They have eclipses, talons, and even a laser. Are those side molding that in demand? The cars have most of the bodies left.

Are you looking for side skirts like this?

I'm at school, 2hrs from home. Not sure what they'd charge for them.

Maybe I'll go again next time I'm home and take full pics of the cars.

Well I found them thru the classifieds on part-outs,but when you add in shipping the price can get ridiculous. I don't feel like spending over a $100 know what I mean? I don't think they are that in demand, just locally they are hard to find. Maybe living a few miles from ShepTrans is why LOL

Edit:^^^ Is there even any skirts on that car? It looks like a 1.8 I didn't think they came with any from the factory?

Funny cause i lost mine on the highway too LOL ,Darcars dodge and chrysler gave me a part # on them but they are discontinued, they sold for $80.00 brand new, well thats shop price though. But i know some where some one has some on their shelve that they need to sell LOL.

Aren't you talking about this area of trim?

It looks like the trim you have pointed to on the white car. Or are you talking about the trim across the bottom?

And no, it doesn't have the skirts, just the door moldings.

Yes, those are exactly the side moldings I'm talking about. I want to place the 92-94 moldings (like the ones in the white car or the purple car) in my 91 Talon (like the one in the first pic, the black/grey car). What I wanted to know is if there would be any fitment issues in doing this.??????

@Darkstar,sorry,I confused moldings for skirts. I need to pay more attention when reading/posting! My apologies:coy:

@InfiniteGSX the Talon sideskirts do look better

I have a 93 talon and my side panel fell off a while ago, I tried the automotive double sided tape but that fell off in a month. What should I use to hold it on? And where could I get more of these metal retainers and the plastic clips that attach to them. Mine also fell off on the highway so I lost about 4 of those.
