Hey guys, I'm still trying to figure out my disengagement problem. I was wondering about this though. When putting in the new Fidanza flywheel, I bought FP's flywheel bolt kit, and changed the pressure plate bolts to the studs that are included in that kit. When the disc and pressure plate sit on the flywheel on the studs, it doesn't sit flush against the flywheel. When torqued to about 20 ft. lbs, it still isn't up against the flywheel. I'm thinking these have something to do with it not disengaging right, since the mechanic torqued them down to where it was touching the flywheel, but the fingers were almost flat. Should the pressure plate sit flush against the flywheel when the disc is between them, unbolted and off the car?

Yes the pressure plate must sit against the flywheel, if it doesn,t the pressure plate would not sit even with the disc you would get engagment problems and possible vibration. I have installed so many clutches i rarely use a torque wrench, i do it by feel. So you may have to tear it back apart and reinstall it. Good Luck

Its already torn apart. I bought some bolts from the hardware store since I lost the other ones. Will they be ok?

I use class 12.9 (printed on the head) socket head cap screws ("allen bolts" to americans). I believe they are M8 but can't remember the length. This will be a stronger bolt than the factory one.

You needed to tap out the threads deeper before installing the studs. FP's directions explain this. Alot of times you can install the flywheel bolts without tapping, but the pressure palte bolts usually need it. I think you already know this now though.

Fp's flywheel install package is a VERY good product, but it must be used properly.

The instructions said you may need to do this. If I knew I was going to have to, I never would have put them in. In fact, I just fixed my car, and the studs were the problem. I put in the factory bolts, and my car finally works now.
