Im looking into buying a 1996 talon tsi (awd) and it seems like a good price. Theres just one thing wrong..the turbo seized and there is an oil leak on the timing belt side. I know I can just replace to turbo and solve the problem (its a big 16g) but how do i fix the leak on the timing belt side? Im going to talk him down on the price a little.

For 3500 I think you can find something in better shape. Have him do a compression test, that will tell you how the motor is doing. The leak on the timing side could be many things even just a simple valve cover gasket but its hard to tell without seeing the car or any pics. GL with the buy if you do go thru with it.

I agree with everyone else. You will find something better than that.

My 97 GSX auto had 87XXX everything working (maf was disconnected and he thought the turbo was going.. love 16 year olds!!) and body was in excellent condition. 3400 and I walked away with my first DSM

Definitely would not pay that much. I've made the mistake of paying to much and I would not want anyone else to make the same mistake I did. Talk them down a lot or walk away I say.

Well, the owner of that car has removed the listing before I could see it. Based on everyone elses comments, I would agree that 3500 is too much. 2500 would would probably be a good number to start with considering the known problems. Good luck if you decide to buy it.
