I did some research but I cannot find a conclusive answer. Well my 2g DSM has around 145k on it with almost everything stock. I purchased it like this. Now I noticed that something when im in neutral its hard to shift into first, I kinda have to force it/jam it in or i'll go from neutral to 2nd then to 1st. It does this sometimes and sometimes it doesnt.. I bled the clutch line to no avail. Im considering replacing the the clutch line with a SS line, but then other people are telling me its the shift linkeage. Also when im having this problem reverse tends to act funny too. Can anyone help?

+1 on the shift linkage. I would think it's sticky or getting caught up. Are you depressing your clutch fully and waiting a second or 2 before getting it into 1st gear ? I do it this way and it always works smoothly.

its strange, sometimes it acts up and sometimes it doesnt. but when it does i press down on the clutch fully then give it a sec and try it again and it literally needs to be jammed into first. i know my clutch is weak its still stock with over 145k but i already ordered the clutch kit. now im guessing i'll have to rebuild the tranny soon with all the mods im planning to do to it... but right now when im down shifting the car seems to be jerking quite a lot, what can that be from?

I am having the same problems with my 1g. I was told by the previous owner that he tried to install a short shift kit and thats when it started. I have changed the entire shifter back to stock. I am still working on this problem, but heres some ideas. 1.On the trans, there is a 2 bolt mount for the lines, check to see if the mount moves, bushing may be worn. 2. Bleed the clutch master and slave. 3. at the trans end of the lines there is two press in berrings, check those. 4. Grease everything

Hope this helps

I have heard this problem a couple of times before and it usually is the linkage. Although 145k on a stock clutch, it may be a good idea to get a new one. But the general response is, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I have heard the same thing about the shifter linkage only that it could be the ''bushing or a alignment issue with the shifter linkage'' So does that mean then we have to rip the old one out and replace it with a new one. That should fix it or take it out and check wether perhaps it wasnt installed properly or a bolt came loose???
