Picked up this 98 n/t with turbo, and for some reason when Im drivin at high rpms it wont catch the next gear. Lik when Im tryin to running the car outta first gear, i would shift to second but it doesnt catch. But when I wait a few secs, it'll catch. No idea why. Neva had this problem b4 so see if anyone could help me out. And the other thing is my reverse sometimes doesnt catch either, just when it feels lik it. I have to turn the car off first and then put it in reverse to work. Hopefully someone could hit me up with some advice, lata...

i donbt know if its the same thing happening but my friend had a 92 talon that did that and the resaon was that the 2nd gear syncro was wasted. As for the reverse, every dsm ive driven doesnt want to go into reverse. What works for me is try putting into reverse and if it doesnt go in then let off on the clutch some and it usually goes right in. let me know how that works.

That's just a symptom of an older transmission. Try replacing the tranny fluid with something that's known to help some (BG snychroshift, synchromesh, etc). To get it into reverse, double-clutching helps sometimes- shift into neutral, let the clutch out, put the clutch back in, and then it should go into reverse easier.

Make sure all of the bolts that hold your tranny to your motor are tight(14mm) and make sure that your shifter linkage is tight, right on top of your tranny to the left of your motor.

Yo thanxs for the info guyz. I'll def get bac at you once I figure out wots goin on.... lata

I had that same problem with my gst. I was at devo tuning and mike got into my car and shifted it and it was a pain you really had to put force to get it into gear and i was like yeah I think I need a new clutch and hes like no you don't went under there and fixed it it shifts like nothing from having to use two hands to just shift into second at High hpms. If you look at your clutch (you gotta get under there and really look) there is a bolt that is screwed onto a metal rail that goes through you firewall. That bolt right there is your clutch point play with that either move it up or move it down and that should help. If that doesn't do the trick you might need some new synchros and some tranny fluids or even a clutch but you should be able to tell that by slipping while in gears or just not catching.
