Ok, so besides my 2g I own a 2004 mustang gt with bolt-ons. When I shift at WOT in the mustang I can dump the clutch going to any gear and the car picks up right away with no tranny movement.

I have tried shifting the 2g by dumping the clutch shifting in to second and third, but I get some tranny movement and it doesn't seem to respond real well to this tactic. Is it better to slowly let the clutch out with the dsm's, and allow the tranny to grab real good?

Also, what is a good rpm to shift at in these cars? In the mustang 5200 is about right. At what RPM do dsm's start to not make anymore power?

the 2g is using the 2100 clutch with a street disc.

What I mean by tranny movement is it doesn't shift in smoothly. It wiggles a bit I guess, I don't really know how to describe it. It's kinda like the same thing as when you shift without rev matching.

Some poly mounts and solid shift bushing should fix that! You can also use some sway bars and that would help on the launch.

as already said, get some stiffer mount inserts and solid shifter bushings and that will make shifting much quicker and will grab better... I have a Torque Solution front motor mount which made a night and day difference over stock.

also with a small 16g and stock cams, power probably starts to fall off around 6k rpm, so I would say shift about 6000-6500 rpm and that should keep you in your best powerband.
